Cakes Review

Napoleon vs. Cheesecake

I have tried two different cakes, and the two of them were delicious. One was a Napoleon, or also known as Mille-feuille, and the other one was a simple cheesecake. In this post I will describe you some history from both cakes, and decide which one is better...

Napoleon

Mille-fuille from french translates as "a thousand leaves", and traditionally it is made up from three layers of puff pastry, and two layers of pasty cream. The layers can sometimes be replaced with whipped cream or jam. The top part of the cake also can vary. The cake is called Napoleon in Russian because people liked eating eat after the defeat of Napoleon. Later the cake became standard in Soviet cuisine.
The version I tried had a nice strawberry on top, and some crispy chips and sugar on top. Personally Napoleon is one of my favorite desserts, and this one pleased me a lot. It was soft and fresh, and the concentration was good enough.

Cheesecake

In ancient form Cheesecake was popular in ancient Greece. The taste of cheesecake differs a lot assuming which cheese do you use to prepare it. There can be baked and fresh types of cheesecakes, in my case it was a fresh one. Lots of countries have their own variants of cheesecakes

The cheesecake I ate was good, but the cheese that was used was not one of my favorites. I have tried better cheesecakes however the sugar star on top was a nice detail, however it was super hard to bite.

Conclusion

Napoleon has an interesting background story, and cheesecake is more spread in the world.
Today the cheesecake have won. In the future there will be more battles of food. I hope you, such as me, have learned something interesting for yourself, and next time you go to a restaurant, you will have something to tell to your friends.
